Pierre Marie Sève was born in 1875 and was the first in our family to grow and care for the vines of this estate – he was my great grandfather. Then came my grandfather, Francis Sève, who cultivated and expanded the estate. Afterwards, my father, Roger Sève, came along: he replanted many plots and started selling our wine in bottles Today, it is I, Jean-Pierre Sève, who cultivate the estate with my wife Sylvie.
The family currently owns 11 ha of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 4 ha of Côtes-du-Rhône and 2 ha of Vin de France, all located on or very close to the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape . This represents 14 different plots of land with vines ranging from 10 to 120 years old.
The roots of Rocca Dei Forti sink deep down into an extraordinary territory that boasts a very old sparkling wine making tradition: the Marche region. And it is here that the whole of Italy’s sparkling winemaking tradition started, as demonstrated by the doctor from Fabriano, Francesco Scacchi, who in the 17th century defined the noble sparkling wine as “piquant”.
For several generations the García family has been fully dedicated to viticulture. Taking advantage of the experience accumulated over decades and their winemaking know-how, Bodegas Monteabellón a family winery located in the small town of Nava de Roa was founded in 2002.
